Why is TV so bad?

Just turn on the tube and you will find celebrities dancing around (Dancing with the Stars), rich girls accentuate their mediocre lives (the City, The Hills, etc), or desperate gold-digging women making fools of themselves trying to win some rich jerk's heart and vice versa (The Bachelor and The Bachelorette). What happened to the good old shows where families can sit together, laugh and learn valuable life lessons (like Full House and Charles in Charge)? I can't watch tv with my family because most of them are filled with sex, violence and drugs or it's just a plain waste of time. I really don't care that the fat guy from Apple computers learned how to dance or if L.C. has a date tonight.

Why not create a show with central characters who deal with real issues that are facing the world today like the economy, environment, and international affairs. True, this can seem boring, but add unforgettable characters that people can relate to and some hysterical situations and you got yourself a hit show. This is what I feel I have accomplished in my tv script and I hope to one day have it produced so television can go from bad to inspiring.; ▶ Reply to This
